Mayo County Council is considering selling the historic Imperial Hotel in Castlebar, built in 1785, for €700,000 to be turned into a 44-bedroom hotel. The plan includes refurbishing the hotel in two phases while ensuring the historical significance is preserved. The council retains the right to repurchase the property within a set period. The proposal will be voted on soon.
