Mumbai plans to make over 50% of its bus fleet electric by 2025 to improve air quality.

Mumbai's public transport agency, BEST, plans to transition over 50% of its bus fleet to electric vehicles by 2025-26 and aims for a fully electric fleet by 2026-27. BEST has ordered 2,650 single-decker electric buses and already operates 50 double-decker electric buses. Despite facing a projected financial deficit, the organization hopes the transition will improve air quality by reducing emissions.
