Gilles Brassard, 81, sentenced to at least 10.5 years for murdering his Alzheimer's-stricken wife.

Gilles Brassard, an 81-year-old from Quebec, was sentenced to at least 10 and a half years in prison for the second-degree murder of his wife, Thérèse Brassard-Lévesque, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease. He pleaded guilty to strangling her in September 2023 at a care home in Terrebonne. Family members described Brassard as a loving husband who tried to care for his wife until she became too ill. The court heard that Brassard attempted suicide after the incident.
