Marisa Christie, a 30-year-old Texas mother, survived a rare and potentially fatal complication called an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) during her planned C-section for triplets. After her heart stopped for 45 minutes, doctors stabilized her using CPR and ECMO, and she spent a week unconscious. Despite the complications, her babies were born healthy, but Christie needed a hysterectomy due to uncontrollable bleeding.
