Taipei lawyers protest against amendments that could weaken the Constitutional Court's effectiveness.

Over 300 lawyers in Taipei protested against proposed amendments to the Constitutional Court Procedure Act by KMT Legislator Weng Hsiao-ling. The amendments would increase the number of justices to 15 and require a two-thirds majority for rulings, up from the current simple majority. Critics argue these changes could cripple the court's operations and limit public access to constitutional interpretations. Demonstrators urged the legislature to protect democracy and the rule of law.
