Anglican chaplain sues Archbishop for blocking disciplinary action against bishop who fired him over gender views.
Rev. Bernard Randall, a Church of England chaplain, is suing Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby for blocking a disciplinary case against Bishop Libby Lane, who labeled Randall a safeguarding risk due to his traditional views on gender identity. Randall was fired from Trent College in 2020 and has been barred from ministry roles since. He argues that Welby overstepped his authority and misused safeguarding processes. Randall will present a petition signed by over 38,000 people seeking an apology and reinstatement.
