Plans to rename Lahore's Shadman Chowk after Indian revolutionary Bhagat Singh were scrapped amid controversy.

Plans to rename Shadman Chowk in Lahore after Indian revolutionary Bhagat Singh and install his statue have been canceled after a retired military official, Commodore Tariq Majeed, called Singh a criminal and terrorist. The district government informed the Lahore High Court of this decision. The Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan has filed a contempt of court petition against the government for not implementing the court's order. The case is adjourned until January 17, 2025.
