Astronomers have imaged the Dark Wolf Nebula, a massive cloud of gas and dust in the Scorpius constellation, about 5,300 light-years away. This dark nebula, part of the larger Gum 55, appears as a wolf-like silhouette against vibrant star-forming clouds and obscures light from stars behind it. Captured by the VLT Survey Telescope at the European Southern Observatory in Chile, it plays a crucial role in new star formation.
