In the past month, about 4,000 foreign nationals traveled to and from Afghanistan, according to the National Statistics and Information Authority. This includes 2,231 arrivals (63 women) and 1,809 departures (11 women), primarily for tourism and work. Popular entry points included Kabul, Herat, Nimroz, Nangarhar, and Balkh. This increase in travel follows the establishment of the current Afghan caretaker government in August 2021 after the U.S. troop withdrawal.
