The Great River Race, a 21.6-mile rowing marathon on the Thames, saw around 300 boats compete from Millwall to Richmond. Established in 1988, the event featured diverse participants, including an all-female crew from Beaumaris RNLI station raising funds for the RNLI's upcoming 200th anniversary. Open to various competitors, the race uses a handicapping system to promote fair play, attracting both athletes and those fundraising in fancy dress.
