60-year-old nurse Evangeline Musch drowned in Sardinia while celebrating her birthday.

Evangeline Sapon Musch, a 60-year-old nurse from Athy, Co Kildare, drowned while on holiday in Sardinia, Italy, on September 10. She was swept out to sea near Portu Maga while celebrating her birthday. A mother of four and grandmother of six, she was well-regarded by colleagues at St. Vincent's Hospital, where she worked. The Sardinia Fire Service recovered her body, and the Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance.
