An Irish holidaymaker has drowned in Portugal's Algarve region at Inatel beach in Albufeira. The 52-year-old man got into difficulties in the water and two Portuguese locals tried to help, but also got into trouble. All three were rescued by lifeguards, but the Irish tourist was declared dead at the scene. His partner, who witnessed the tragedy, is receiving psychological support. The Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin is providing consular assistance.
