MSC leaves Maersk alliance, launches East/West network; Premier Alliance forms with ONEX, HMM, Yang Ming.
Starting in 2025, the container shipping industry will see significant changes, with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company leaving its alliance with Maersk to launch a standalone East/West network. This new network will feature five trades and 34 loops, offering extensive routing options. Concurrently, Ocean Network Express, HMM, and Yang Ming will form the Premier Alliance, which will also collaborate with MSC on key trade routes, amidst broader industry shifts to address capacity and reliability challenges.
