A fire at a residence in the Town of Tonawanda, New York, early Friday morning claimed the life of 71-year-old Mary D. Rogers and left her 75-year-old roommate hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
The fire, which started around 4:30 a.m. at 557 Englewood Ave., is believed to have been caused by cigarette smoking.
