UK to join CPTPP by mid-December, providing 99% tariff-free access to 11 member countries.

The UK will join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) by mid-December, providing tariff-free access for over 99% of its exports to the 11 CPTPP member countries including Australia, Canada, and Mexico. The CPTPP requires countries to reduce or eliminate tariffs, open services and investment markets, and follow competition, intellectual property rights, and foreign company protection rules. This move is expected to boost the UK economy by £2 billion ($A3.9 billion) annually by 2040.
