China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao expressed interest in strengthening CPTPP cooperation with New Zealand.

China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao has expressed willingness to work with New Zealand to strengthen cooperation in the process of joining The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Minister Wang met with New Zealand's Trade Minister Todd McClay in Abu Dhabi. In 2021, China showed interest in joining the CPTPP Agreement, the successor to an earlier pact from which the US withdrew.
