Camp Davis, a World War II airfield in Camp Lejeune, NC, underwent a $28M renovation and now supports aviation training for KC-130 Hercules, MV-22 Osprey, and other aircraft, enhancing Marine Corps training and preparing units for missions worldwide. A full-spectrum training facility, it also allows for austere airfield condition simulations for Expeditionary Advanced Basing Operations. Originally built in 1941 as an anti-aircraft artillery training center, the upgraded runway features concrete landing pads and apron designed to handle heat from hovering, landing, and turning maneuvers.
