Typhoon Shanshan caused a landslide in central Japan on August 28, leading to the disappearance of four family members in Gamagori, Aichi prefecture. Heavy rain and gusts of up to 252 km/h swept away their house, with one family member rescued while the search continues for the others. The storm, northeast of the Amami archipelago, is expected to move towards the southern island of Kyushu this week.
