A construction crew in Altoona, Iowa punctured a natural gas line near 8th Street and 17th Avenue on Monday morning, leading to the evacuation of the nearby Lutheran Church of the Cross as a precaution. The gas line rupture occurred around 8:15 a.m., causing MidAmerican Energy crews to be sent to the site for repairs. Some roads in the area remain blocked off.
