3 Utah friends drowned in Sierra Nevada mountain range after being caught in a whirlpool while rappelling with a group of 13 on a canyoneering adventure. David Bell, Jeannine Skinner, and Peter On were the last to rappel into an area called Seven Teacups. Skinner got caught in the whirlpool, and both Bell and On attempted to help her, ultimately drowning as well. The victims were well-known and respected community members, with Bell and Skinner being a couple for several years.
