Ethiopia aims to plant 600 million trees in a day as part of its annual "Green Legacy" program led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Ethiopia is aiming to break records by planting 600 million saplings in a single day, as part of the country's annual goal to plant 6.5 billion trees during the rainy season. This yearly initiative, known as the "Green Legacy" program, is the brainchild of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and is expected to help Ethiopia recover its depleted forest resources, while promoting food security, soil conservation, and combating land degradation. The country has already planted around 40 billion seedlings since the program's inception in 2019.
