South African families appeal to International Relations Committee for assistance in securing release of imprisoned engineers in Equatorial Guinea.

Families of two South African engineers, Frik Potgieter and Peter Huxham, imprisoned in Equatorial Guinea for 558 days, appealed to the International Relations Committee to prioritize efforts in securing their release. The engineers, arrested on drug charges while working for Dutch company SBM Offshore, have been declared as illegally detained by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. The Committee will write to Minister Ronald Lamola and invite him to address the matter in Parliament.
