5G-funded Hong Kong pilot launches autonomous shuttle light buses in Fairview Park.
5G-enabled Autonomous People Mover Service (APAS) launched a pilot program in Fairview Park, Hong Kong, funded by the HKSAR Government's Smart Traffic Fund. The project aims to serve as a reference point for developing self-driving right-hand drive vehicles for future public transportation. Two autonomous shuttle light buses with passenger capacities of 12 and 8 are deployed, running through Fairview Park's southeastern and northwestern sections. The pilot project will conduct monthly inspections of the vehicles and autonomous driving system, collecting relevant data to improve the service.
