Auto and taxi drivers in Delhi-NCR will stage a two-day strike on August 22 and 23 to protest against app-based cab services like Ola and Uber, accusing them of reducing their earnings and imposing high commissions. Supported by 15 major driver unions, the strike will temporarily remove around 400,000 vehicles from the roads, causing disruptions. The unions demand government intervention to protect their jobs and income, and are also concerned about unethical activities like smuggling, alcohol, and drug trade.
