A wildfire in northern Nevada temporarily halted rail services, caused power outages for 3,000 rural residents, and closed a portion of Interstate 80. The fire, which burned over a square mile, threatened around a dozen homes but has not caused any injuries or damage. The Amtrak route between Chicago and Oakland, California remains closed for safety inspections. Firefighters have managed to contain about 50% of the blaze by nightfall, while multiple aircraft and 20 fire engines assisted in extinguishing the flames. The affected section of I-80 was closed for approximately an hour before reopening.
