1st-century AD shroud analysis aligns with biblical accounts and suggests authenticity.
Scientists from Italy's Institute of Crystallography of the National Research Council have used advanced x-ray techniques to date the Shroud of Turin, a cloth believed to have wrapped Jesus Christ after his crucifixion, to around 2,000 years ago, aligning with biblical accounts of Jesus' burial. Researchers analyzed eight small samples of the shroud, studying the breakdown of cellulose that occurs over time due to temperature and humidity changes. The findings, published in the journal Heritage, suggest that the Shroud of Turin was likely made in the 1st century AD, shedding new light on the authenticity of the burial cloth.
