2030 greenhouse gas emissions must decrease by 42% or 28% for Paris Agreement's 1.5°C or 2°C pathways, but current projections show a 3% rise.
The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) reports that 2030 greenhouse gas emissions must decrease by 42% for the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C pathway and 28% for the 2°C pathway. Despite increased efforts since the 2015 Paris Agreement, greenhouse gas emissions are still projected to rise by 3% in 2030. The IPCC proposes "climate-resilient development," integrating measures to adapt to climate change with actions to reduce or avoid greenhouse gas emissions, for wider benefits. The choices made in the next few years will greatly impact our planet's future and future generations.
