Texas-based startup, Sage Geosystems, is developing a geopressured geothermal system to store pressurized water deep underground and generate electricity. Its first commercial-scale facility near San Antonio will use stored electricity from a small solar array to power a data center. The company aims to offer a cost-effective alternative to lithium-ion batteries for longer-duration energy storage, helping data centers run on solar power overnight at a lower cost.
