Korean researchers propose using brain electrical stimulation, tRNS, for obesity treatment, showing significant appetite suppression in a clinical trial.

Researchers from Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute and Seoul National University Hospital propose a novel approach to treat obesity through brain electrical stimulation called transcranial random noise stimulation (tRNS). A two-week clinical trial with 60 female volunteers showed significant appetite suppression and reduced emotional eating. If successful and commercialized, this technique could provide an easy and safe daily appetite suppression method, with fewer side effects than current treatments.
