Bengaluru's State government orders recovery of 599 acres of forestland at the premises of Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) due to illegal sale. Forest Minister B. Eshwar Khandre instructs officials to reclaim the land in Peenya-Jalahalli plantation. HMT had sold the land, declared as a reserve forest under Section 9 of the Forest Rules, 1878, to various government departments, institutions, and private parties without the State Cabinet's approval. The government also withdraws an interim application filed without approval before the Supreme Court to denotify the land.
