In December 2022, six people, including two police officers, were killed in a domestic terror attack inspired by Christian extremist ideology at the remote Queensland property of Gareth, Nathaniel, and Stacey Train. The Trains, who lived off-grid with water tanks, solar panels, and no main-line electricity, were brothers and ex-spouses. During a six-hour police siege, attempts to negotiate with the Trains were ignored or answered with gunfire. The inquest, currently underway, aims to explore the motivations behind the attack and the events leading up to it.
