53% of sunseekers plan to discard inflatable toys, contributing to plastic waste, prompting Thomas Cook and the Marine Conservation Society to launch a campaign encouraging reuse or recycling.

53% of sunseekers plan to discard inflatable toys, contributing to plastic waste, after their holidays this year, according to a survey by Thomas Cook and the Marine Conservation Society. To counteract this, the firms have launched a campaign encouraging holidaymakers to reduce, reuse or recycle inflatables, as they can break down into microplastics. Only 47% of those surveyed said they would reuse or recycle their inflatable after the holiday. Thomas Cook has shared steps on their website to help holidaymakers find hotels with recycling facilities and is supporting the Marine Conservation Society's wider initiatives to tackle plastic pollution.
