Potatoes New Zealand, with partners, launches the Sustainable Vegetable Systems Tool, a nitrogen budgeting tool for vegetable farming.

Potatoes New Zealand, in collaboration with agricultural experts, environmental scientists, and industry partners, has launched the Sustainable Vegetable Systems (SVS) Tool. This innovative nitrogen budgeting tool aims to enhance sustainability practices within the vegetable farming industry, providing growers with evidence-based decision support to optimise their nitrogen management practices, reduce environmental impact, increase efficiency, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. Launched by Minister Nicola Grigg, the SVS Tool offers real-time nutrient management decision making support, customised support, and environmental impact reports. Key industry players involved in the project include Potatoes New Zealand, Vegetables Research and Innovation, Vegetables New Zealand, Process Vegetables NZ, NZ Buttercup Squash Council, Onions New Zealand, Horticulture New Zealand, Plant & Food Research, and the Ministry for Primary Industries.
