South Australian Merino breeders Ian and David Rowett experienced a rare sextuplet birth in June.
In June, South Australian Merino breeders Ian and David Rowett witnessed a rare sextuplet birth, confirmed by DNA testing. Their ewe, previously a triplet, had given birth to twins each year. Despite one lamb passing away, the remaining five are thriving without supplementary milk. The Rowetts' shed lambing program reduces mis-mothering and increases survival rates during multiple births. This is their first sextuplet experience; they've previously seen a ewe with quadruplets.
