Ohio History Connection regains control of Octagon Earthworks site from Moundbuilders Country Club.
Ohio History Connection and Moundbuilders Country Club have settled a long-running legal dispute, allowing the historical society to regain control of the ancient Octagon Earthworks site. The site, part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hopewell Earthworks system, was used for ceremonies by the Hopewell Culture around 2,000 years ago. Ohio History Connection will purchase the country club's lease, ending the legal battle, and plans to open the site to the public from January 1st.
