Rupert Murdoch's UK newspaper group, News Group Newspapers (NGN), has agreed to search for emails about an alleged "fake security threat" in response to multiple lawsuits accusing the company of unlawful activities by journalists and private investigators for its newspapers, including the Sun and the now-defunct News of the World. The claimants, including Prince Harry, allege senior NGN executives used the security threat to justify mass deletion of emails during the height of the phone-hacking scandal.
