Gas prices in Michigan reached a new 2024 high of $3.81, then declined slightly to $3.78 per gallon. Prices are up 10 cents from a week ago, 8 cents more than a month ago, and 12 cents more than a year ago. The rise in gas prices is attributed to refinery issues in Joliet, Illinois, and increased gasoline demand. A full 15-gallon tank of gasoline now costs an average of $56, down $2 from the highest price in August 2023.
