17-year-old Jenny Allan from Thanet, Kent became the first teenager to receive a "bladder pacemaker" at a new children's service for rare bladder conditions. The device, similar to a pacemaker, sends electrical impulses to change nerve messages going to the bladder, preventing incorrect or unwanted messages that can cause incontinence or urinary retention. The surgery took place at Evelina London Children's Hospital, which recently launched the UK's first paediatric bladder neuromodulation service.
