7-year-old Reece Wilton from Hampshire became the UK's first child to undergo pioneering robotic surgery at Southampton Children's Hospital using the Versius Surgical Robotic System to treat his kidney ailment. The groundbreaking surgery, performed by consultant paediatric urologist Ewan Brownlee, is part of a study involving 150 patients and was developed by British firm CMR Surgical. The robotic system, which boasts a 720-degree range of motion, allows for complex operations on paediatric patients with minimized incisions, benefiting young patients.
