Orlando Magic co-founder Pat Williams, who spent more than 50 years working within the NBA, has died aged 84 from complications related to viral pneumonia. Williams, who also served as the Magic's general manager until being promoted to senior vice president in 1996, was instrumental in bringing an NBA team to Orlando, which began playing in 1989. He was involved in starting the process of bringing an NBA team to Orlando, with the league's board of governors granting an expansion franchise in 1987.
