Monarch Mountain in Colorado has received official approval from the US Forest Service to expand its ski area terrain by 377 acres into the No Name Basin. The addition, currently used by Monarch Cat Skiing operations, will provide traditionally cleared trails and glade terrain for intermediate and advanced skiers. The expansion was envisioned in the ski area's 2011 master plan and was approved after a decade of planning and a three-year review process.
