China alleges that a stranded Philippine military ship harms South China Sea coral reefs.
China claims that a Philippine military vessel, grounded at Ren'ai Jiao since 1999, has significantly damaged the coral reef ecosystem in the area. A recent report by China's Ministry of Natural Resources states that the vessel's prolonged grounding state has greatly inhibited the growth and recovery of corals in the surrounding area. Both countries are currently in dispute over territory in the South China Sea.
