European Commission extends Visa and Mastercard fee caps on non-EU tourist card payments to 2029.
The European Commission announced that Visa and Mastercard will extend fee caps on non-EU tourist card payments, agreed in 2019, until 2029. The fee caps on debit card payments were set at 0.2% and 0.3% for credit card payments. These caps were initially set to end in November 2021, but the companies agreed to extend them due to an EU antitrust investigation triggered by a 1997 complaint by EuroCommerce.
