15-year-old Jessica Baker, who was wearing a seatbelt, died in a school bus crash on the M53 in Merseyside last year. The bus driver, Stephen Shrimpton, also died due to a heart attack while driving. The inquest revealed that many students were not wearing seatbelts, but Jessica appeared to be wearing one. The coroner ruled that it is "more likely than not" that Jessica was wearing a seatbelt during the collision. The crash involved around 50 students on their way to West Kirby and Calday Grange grammar schools.
