54-year-old former Arsenal and Everton footballer Kevin Campbell died at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) due to multi-organ failure from a heart infection. Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has declared a Level 5 incident related to aspects of Campbell's care, citing concerns over delay in aspects of care and diagnosis, and decision-making processes concerning palliative care. An inquest, which will determine the medical cause of death and the care provided to Campbell, has been adjourned to await additional disclosure.
