2 million UK couples may miss out on £252 tax-free marriage allowance due to a loophole.

2 million UK couples may miss out on the £252 tax-free marriage allowance due to a loophole. HMRC estimates that 4.2 million couples qualify for the tax break, but only 2.1 million have claimed it. A loophole allows eligibility if earnings exceed £50,270, provided the tax-paying partner contributes to a pension or makes a gift aid donation. Personal Finance expert Martin Lewis advises that applications are free and can be made online.
