76-year-old Roger Lee Booth from Charleston, West Virginia drowned in the Bitterroot River near Woodside Cutoff in Corvallis on June 25, 2024, while fishing with two others. Their raft overturned after hitting a bridge support pillar, and despite emergency medical care provided at the scene, Booth was declared dead. River safety is emphasized due to the numerous obstacles and submerged hazards in the Bitterroot River, and the rafting accident is currently under investigation by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.
