Alberta's Environment Minister, Rebecca Schulz, downplays Europe's methane tariffs on imported natural gas while promoting Alberta as an energy ally in Washington.

Alberta's Environment Minister, Rebecca Schulz, expressed little concern about Europe's movement towards methane tariffs on imported natural gas, while promoting Alberta's role as an energy ally in Washington. European Union countries have imposed a law to limit methane emissions from oil and gas imports from 2030, with non-compliant importers facing financial penalties. However, Schulz mentions that only a few conversations about this issue have been held during her visit to the US capital. Alberta has already achieved a 45% reduction in methane emissions, three years ahead of schedule, alongside its producers.
