American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) successfully manufactured lithium hydroxide from claystone at its Nevada-based facility, with support from a DOE grant. CEO Ryan Melsert aims to expand this technology with a 30,000-tonne lithium hydroxide per year refinery. US DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm visited the recycling facility, which uses a unique de-manufacturing approach to process lithium-ion batteries and manufacturing scrap.
