The US intensifies efforts with allies to limit China's access to advanced chipmaking tech.

The US is intensifying efforts to restrict China's semiconductor industry, with export policy chief Alan Estevez meeting with the Dutch government and heading to Japan to push allies to further limit China's access to cutting-edge chipmaking technology. This follows a 2023 agreement between the US, Netherlands, and Japan to prevent China from acquiring chipmaking equipment that could enhance its military capabilities. The US first imposed restrictions on shipments of advanced chips and chipmaking equipment to China in 2022.
